You will not thank me for this post…
I was standing at this roadside BBQ yesterday that is quite famous in my tiny area of the world waiting for my ‘heart attack with a side of obesity’ meal and there’s this little kid humming Iron Man over and over and over. I had expected the line I was in to either start bobbing their heads or buy this little kid and ice cream cone so he would shut the hell up.
What is it about Iron Man? Why is it that my daughter plays Iron Man on her cello? Why was that little kid killing me with Iron Man? What is it about Iron Man?
So I got thinking about Iron Man:
- Iron Man is the top grossing movie of 2008 in the US so kids are humming it now due to the movie trailer
- Kids also sing Iron Man parodies circulated in the past (I am the ice cream man…; I am Santa Claus…) (search YouTube if you’re really interested)
- Guitar Hero
I AM RESEARCH GIRL (sung to Iron Man)
She can read some books
She can search and she can look
Can she make some sense?
Of the stuff that seems so dense…
This post isn’t all silly though…
It involves nasty earworms and it’s close cousin and friend of training – mnemonics. Perhaps you can sneak Iron Man into your training. It seems it may be a big hit across generations…
I’m thinking of suggesting to Tom Werner that this year’s Brandon Hall 2008 Excellence in Learning Award winners should make their acceptance speech to Iron Man. (last year it was haiku and limericks…way cool!)
