Failures Don't Set Goals

May 23, 2007

loser.jpgSo I was tagged by Lynn for the goal meme last week (Gotta Get Goals) and honestly, I considered blowing it off but, of course, this came across my reader this morning and now I’m compelled to list my goals or else paint the letter “L” (for loser or lazy) on my forehead. Here’s what I’ve gotta do (in no particular order):

  1. Get in shape – can’t do much if you’re not in shape right? I’ll take the words of my 8 year old – pain is just weakness leaving the body (this from his lacrosse coach). At 8. Wow. Famous  quote…don’t know the author. Just left a message for my trainer to buy more ‘pain’ credits.
  2. Eat healthier – need to get off the caffeine > sugar > alcohol treadmill. Just put note on grocery list: Tylenol. Extra strength. (also for goal #1)
  3. Laugh more – takin’ it all a little too seriously lately. Will take the kids to see Shrek 3 on the day it opens (Friday, I think) as they asked  this morning. If it’s not funny, I’ll slip on my iPod and listen to Dane Cook.
  4. Make sure the finances are in order. Just went through some real good planning – now just need to implement the action items. Have sent my husband an appointment request via Outlook (we’ll see if he accepts…)
  5. Healthy Marriage. (have sent husband an provocative IM ; )
  6. Healthy Family. Go fishin’.
  7. Enjoyable, rewarding work. Sending a note to everyone at Brandon Hall Research…so cool to work with.
  8. Spirituality. Peace out.

Those are my goals. Following the ‘rules’ (yuk!) I have to tag at least one person so I’ll tag Joan. Perhaps she’s been tagged already and then we’ll both be off the hook.

I like all of these, especially those that pertain to your important relationships – sometimes we forget to work on them and then, whoops, “aw gee – we just grew apart”. Hope you get taken up on your provocative IM – good for you!-)

Thanks for your explanation on my wall.

Goal setting, sigh. More on my blog later – that’s my current goal!

In the mean time, may I suggest shared Google Calendars can be very useful for couples and/or families – good for seeing when free time is shared and then booking it for fishing!

I wonder if spending time thinking about and setting goals gives us more time for our families or less??
